Cricket Stars Monitored For Months

It has been alleged that Pakistan cricket players have been involved in a betting scam and have been monitored for months by its anti-corruption unit.

It has been alleged that Pakistan cricket players have been involved in a betting scam and have been monitored for months by its anti-corruption unit.

Haroon Lorgat, chief executive of the International Cricket Council, has promised there would be "zero tolerance" of anyone involved in match-fixing on behalf of gamblers.

However, a spokesman for Pakistan's cricket board said it would not suspend its players while the allegations are investigated.

I have not read the newspaper reports, but I get the impression that 2 very niave young men have been seduced by reporters offering them money, and this will cost them their cricketing career. Which is a great pity as they are both excellent and very talented cricketers. They will have learnt a very hard lesson, and have deprived cricket enthusiasts all over the world from seeing their careers develop.
I do not condone their actions ( if the allegations are true)? they have been very foolish and I feel sorry for them.
There is too much corruption in the world, and too many people thrive on it.

Those involved should be suspended, the punishment should be the same across the board, that's what our players would receive, should it happen here.

No place for 'fixing' in any sport!

Vicky, perhaps a body of 'evidence' is more substantial and credible than a single incident. By collecting 'evidence' from numerous incidents, a clear pattern may emerge that strengthens the case against any suspect whom habitually cheats.
