Woman that dumped a cat in a wheelie bin
Mary Bale has caused an international outrage by dumping a cat in a wheelie bin, she is insisting it was done only as a ‘joke’. The cat was trapped for 15 hours in the bin before her owners rescued her. Her actions have prompted angry online campaigns against her resulting in her being offered police protection. I can only imagine this woman must have some kind of mental illness to do such a thing.

Absolutely outrageous! And we always put blame on young people for cruel acts. No protection, name and shame!

why should she be offered protection? who was protecting the cat against a monster like that

She should be put inside a smelling bin for 15 hours to suffer for the cruelty. She should be charged, this makes me so angry!

The only "joke" here is that tax payers money is being used to give police protection to such a despicable individual. Unbelievable.

I hear this woman has recieved death threats online. I am an animal lover but it never ceases to amaze me how British peoples concern for animals seems to outweigh that of children and vulnerable adults.

What a great idea Vicky and I couldn't agree more with Seraphina.

I suppose she was going to see how long it'd take for it to die, for a joke too. Who was laughing?
I think she should be put in pit with some big hungry cats, to purrsue her, just for a joke. Harbin's (in N.E. CHina) Tiger park should be a good place for her.

Im an owner of 3 kitties and id be devastated if anything happened to them, This woman is disturbed, the fact she tried to befriend the cat before throwing it in the bin is just terrible, im glad she's been identified and shamed for what she did, she should suffer the same as the cat did, im sure theres room in my bin for her to stay for 15 hours!!

i despise cruelty to animals and children above all else. Animals are so loyal, and innocent...to do these things to them shoudl fetch proper punishments. I've rescued 3 guinea pigs from a local centre to care for and i heard some horror stories of what people do to them. Some man stopped some kids throwing a couple onto a main road for cars to hit!

I saw a clip on TV of a person dressed up as a cat and putting an oldish woman in a wheelie bin.
I just wish someone would do this to MAry Bale and hopefully forget to let her out.
THANK God for whoever saved that poor Cat

This woman Mary Bale deserves everything she gets, she must have a very warped sense of humour.Anyone who hurts animals' or children is just a coward.

T he vile woman should be given a choice, either spend time in prison or spend 15 hours in one of those large wheelie bins that are usually outside charity shops.
She will make anything up to get off scott free. If she really thinks harming an innocent cat is funny then she is evil.
If it had been a hot day that poor cat would have cooked.
Hopefully she will not get away with it.

It was very lucky that the owners had CCTV to check otherwise I dread to think how the poor cat might have ended up!!

The fact that she did this to someone elses pet and innocent animal makes me boil and why should she get valuable police resources for something she did to herself. I do not agree with people attacking her verbally of physically but she should be made to pay for her stupid actions legally.

Yes, this is most definitely the worst thing that has happened in the UK, in fact the world last week.
Seriously, she should not have done it but far far worse things are inflicted on millions and millions of animals every single day.
Anybody threatening her needs more "help" than she does.

Trapped for 15 hours is not a joke!

There was a story I saw today of a girl throwing squealing puppies from a tub across a river. I have never heard something so upsetting, the noise they were making. It was in Croatia or somewhere.. Why would you do such an awful thing, let alone post videos of it. The thought of it makes me feel sick to my stomach.

to say that it was a joke,is scary.
The cat would have been scared stiff.
if the bin had been emptied into a lorry
the cat would have been crushed.
society does not need that kind of person.

I wonder if the cat thought it was a joke? I think NOT! You could see by the woman`s furtive manner she knew she was doing wrong!
