Proposed tube strike 6th and 7th September

Thousands of London Underground workers are due to begin a 24-hour walkout as they are unhappy about plans to scrap 800 jobs in ticket offices and say station security could be at risk.

Thousands of London Underground workers are due to begin a 24-hour walkout as they are unhappy about plans to scrap 800 jobs in ticket offices and say station security could be at risk.

London’s tube passengers have been advised to find alternative ways of getting home today as the first in a series of strikes begins.

Have you or has anyone you know been affected by this? Do you feel the strike is justified? Please share your views.

I moved out of London 8 years ago so will not be affected by the strikes but I always felt safer when there were station staff around (and a guard on the train) especially in the evening. Don't know if a strike will do anything - apart from frustrating passengers.

I can't believe there isn't a requirement for so many members of staff?!

The few times that I have been to London (horrible place-only go for the shows) then it is always chaos at the ticket booths with huge queues, so how they possibly get rid of 800 jobs is beyond me. Get rid of the ticket MACHINES that cause nothing but frustration with passengers/foreigners etc and let's have MORE STAFF on the underground/train stations.

I`m not affected by this but I can imagine the upset caused by such an action. The poor railstaff are not being mean in doing this they are only trying to protect fellow workers jobs. My hat is off to them.
